The MRCOOL DIY Easy Pro 18K BTU is the largest in the Easy Pro line, built for spaces between about 700 and 1,000 square feet — a big living area, a finished basement, or a larger addition. It's the value option in MRCOOL's DIY lineup: the same core benefit as the flagship 5th Gen line, at a lower price, with a few features trimmed to get there.

A traditional mini-split usually means hiring a licensed HVAC contractor to run the refrigerant lines and pull a vacuum on the system before it's legally allowed to run — a step that means scheduling a visit, paying for labor, and working around someone else's calendar. This system skips that. The 11.5-foot line set arrives pre-charged from the factory with R-32 refrigerant, so there's nothing to vacuum, no gauges, and no refrigerant handling — which typically saves a few thousand dollars in labor and lets you install on your own schedule. The included DIYPRO cable stands in for traditional electrical conduit, protecting the wiring from weather and animals without you having to run conduit yourself.

Unlike the smaller Easy Pro units, this one runs on 230V power rather than a standard household outlet — the same type of circuit a clothes dryer or electric range uses, so it's usually just a matter of confirming you have one near the install site.

It runs at 20 SEER2 efficiency and stays genuinely quiet — as low as 29 decibels indoors and about 55 decibels outdoors, both quieter than normal conversation, even at this larger size. It's built to handle cold-weather heating as well as summer cooling. You control it through the MRCOOL app, and 4-way auto-swing louvers spread the air evenly around the room instead of blowing it in one direction.

Upkeep is simple: the filters are washable and reusable rather than needing replacement, and the outdoor unit's Gold Fin coating protects against corrosion over time.

Registering the unit gets you 3 years of parts coverage and 5 years on the compressor.
